Works Porsche 924 Restoration
We’ve recently started works on a car I’ve been fascinated by for many years, the works Porsche 924. This car won it’s class the 19,000km Repco Round Australia Reliability Trial in 1979 in the hands of Jurgen Barthj and Roland Kussmaul.
What also makes this car so special is the fact it was the first right hand drive 924 to enter Australia and was modified by Alan Hamilton to class spec. It’s fascinating just to be in the presence of it and a real honour to be re-commissioning it.
The brief is to restore the running gear to perfection while keeping the body and details intact to continue to tell the car’s story. So far we have removed the drivetrain and suspension. We have powder coasted the suspension which is actually 924 turbo spec and begun a full engine rebuild.
Big thanks to James Papas from RSR Classic for trusting us to complete the work.
